Kid-Centered Decision Making
To create better outcomes for every child, Wesley Spectrum relies on a unique methodology called Kid-Centered Decision Making. This method ensures that we make the best decisions every step of the way, by always asking, “What is best for this individual child?” It begins with Kid-Centered Planning, a personal assessment and individual plan that focuses on the child’s strengths and needs.
Each child’s progress is tracked with Kid-Centered Measurement, which assesses accomplishments against the child’s personal plan objectives. Each milestone is recognized and celebrated. Each child can then adjust his or her direction and pace, through a wide array of Wesley Spectrum programs and services.
Maintaining a Kid-Centered Environment fosters an atmosphere of learning and growth, created for that individual child. This total Milieu includes every piece of a child’s day, including therapeutic relationships with other children, families and staff. Everything affects the growth of each child, from hiring decisions and program development, to the room temperature and lighting. When a child feels safe and comfortable in his or her environment, he or she is ready to communicate, learn and grow.
