Kid-Centered Environment

A Kid-Centered Environment is much more than simply a classroom or a building. It is how a child experiences the world—their “milieu.” Wesley’s milieu, involving children, families and staff, is an intentionally created, safe environment that promotes treatment and education.

In a Kid-Centered Environment, the child is the hub around which all things revolve. Traditional settings lack resources or a specialized understanding of the child, and are likely to force a child to conform to its standards. However, a Kid-Centered Environment is designed to adapt, and remain fluid to the needs of each child.

This specialization might seem like a lot of work for our staff, and it can be. But at Wesley, our team works hard to see each child as a “majority of one.” A child’s very presence influences the care, keeping the environment Kid-Centered, suited to his or her own needs. We believe the child is the source from which success ultimately flows.
