Kid-Centered Planning

The first question is always the same - can Wesley help? To answer that, we start with an assessment of the issues facing an individual child. The assessment is a structured process that ends with a recommendation of whether Wesley is the best solution. It involves Wesley, the parents, the child and community resources.

If the decision that Wesley can help is “yes,” then the planning process continues with the development of an individualized plan with tangible goals for what “successes” are envisioned. These successes, again, are specific to every single child. The plan is a written document involving parents to assess the child’s needs and identify a strategy to best meet those needs. Each child is assigned a single point of contact so the family knows there is one person who thoroughly understands the needs of that child. At this point, Wesley begins to welcome the child to experience a new world.
