Wesley Spectrum Autism Services

Wesley Spectrum bases autism treatment on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) because we value quality service and evidence-based practices. Our staff utilize data-based decision making, and positive, proactive strategies in treatment. Wesley Spectrum is committed to continuous improvement in the services we provide, and we strive to create an environment in which children are able to build lifelong skills and staff are able to successfully transfer abilities. We hold ourselves accountable for treatment outcomes, and we support our clients in becoming more independent, responsible, and caring members of their community.

BHRS (Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services)/Wraparound provides intensive, behavior focused therapy conducted by trained clinicians and therapists. These services can take place in the home, school, or community. A master’s level clinician will work with the treatment team to create and monitor a treatment plan, inclusive of all goals specific to the child and family. She or he can work in conjunction with your child’s school, outside therapists, and other community members to assure continuity of care. She or he will also supervise other BHRS treatment team members, including a bachelor’s level therapist who would provide one-on-one support and behavioral interventions.

Creative Arts offers an innovative approach to therapy. Our Creative Arts program has redefined the typical therapeutic group to include not only children but their families as well. Children with or without a diagnosis are welcome, as our certified music therapists will work to assure that each child benefits individually. Creative therapies can help all children by using multiple modalities to help them learn self expression and positive outlets, as well as enhance their creative play and imagination. Our certified music therapists offer private, group, and family instruction in the following areas: rhythm, movement, vocal, and instrumental.
If you are unsure that your child would be interested in, capable of, or benefit from participating in these groups or private instruction, our certified music therapists will schedule a one on-one session for assessment purposes. Click here to find more information on the Creative Arts Program.

Inclusionary Summer Therapeutic Activities Program (I-STAP)  is a new patnership between Wesley Spectrum and the Butler County Family YMCA offering an Inclusionary Summer Therapeutic Activities Program (I-STAP).  Wesley Spectrum’s unique partnership with the Butler County Family YMCA’s summer camp has created an inclusionary camp setting with therapeutic support for children with autism spectrum disorders.  An I-STAP provides neurotypical peers which naturally act as mentors by facilitating and modeling communication, social interaction, and age-appropriate play skills.  Camp Specialists are built into the I-STAP model as therapeutic supports, and camp specialists can support up to 4 children, offering a least restrictive 4:1 ratio.  Eligible candidates must meet I-STAP admission criteria as determined by Wesley Spectrum & the Butler County Family YMCA.

Autism Outpatient Mental Health Services are traditional outpatient mental health services with a specialization in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). These services are designed for individuals and their family members needing minimal to moderate mental health support. Autism Outpatient Mental Health services can provide psychiatric evaluations, on-going medication management, diagnostic assessments, as well as individual, family, and group counseling. Counseling sessions will incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Wonder Kids (WK) provides therapeutic and social relationship interventions for clients who have an autism spectrum disorder. These on-site social skills groups run with a maximum of 12 clients and are overseen by a clinical supervisor, as well as a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Clients are given the opportunity to develop and practice social skills. WK is designed to run as a step-down program from traditional 1:1 Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services (BHRS/wraparound) or other intense behavioral health service. Given that WK is a less restrictive service, it may be used as a stand alone service, in conjunction with a decreasing level of BHRS, or as an appropriate recommendation in a discharge plan. WK provides services using a 3:1 child to staff ratio. The overall goal of WK is to increase independence and age appropriate social skills.
