Introducing: Mr. Danny Brown, our 2017 Gala Honoree
Our annual Spring Gala “Building Blocks for a Brighter Future” is approaching quickly, and each year we look to honor an individual, who outside of the success they’ve achieved in their field of industry, has helped make a difference in the lives of our region’s children and families. We are proud to announce that this year we will be honoring Mr. Danny Brown, one of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s premier business leaders and philanthropists.
You may recognize Mr. Brown as the Founder and President of MBM Contracting, and you will have certainly seen his company’s contracting work, which has played a role in nearly every major development that’s occurred over the last two decades. MBM Contracting Inc. is a family-owned general contracting company with 28 years of commercial construction experience in and around the Pittsburgh area. MBM also provides construction management, pre-construction, design build and self-perform construction services to the healthcare, restaurant, retail, corporate, higher education and light industrial industries. Just a few of the projects MBM has worked on are: UPMC Shadyside’s Living Wall;, the Goddard School, 4mom’s, Ditka’s, Atria’s, Carnegie Mellon University, the Jewish Community Center ECDC, Excela Health, Children’s Hospital, Allegheny Health Network, and many, many more.
“Often, individuals garner accolades for their professional accomplishments and Danny is certainly deserving of that. But, on March 4th we will have the opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding character, service, and leadership. Wesley couldn’t be more thrilled and delighted to honor him,” said Doug Muetzel, CEO of Wesley Spectrum.
All proceeds from the Spring Gala help to strengthen our programs that provide the building blocks for a brighter future for those we serve. One of our goals is to use these blocks to keep families together whenever possible, providing a strong family foundation. For more information on this year’s gala, click here.
After receiving an Honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Brown attended both Edinboro University and the University of Pittsburgh. After many years of experience as a laborer and a carpenter foreman, Mr. Brown, along with his brother Harry, established MBM Contracting in 1988. MBM started in a single room in the basement of a hair salon located on West Liberty Avenue. Two years later in 1990,
MBM purchased and renovated a vacant Masonic Temple in Homestead and conducted business there for 14 years.
In 2004, MBM purchased and renovated a dilapidated metal building in Baldwin Borough, constructed an addition for offices and warehouse storage, and moved offices once again. MBM currently has 19 in-office staff and over 100 field personnel who offer construction services to various commercial projects in and around the Pittsburgh area.
Danny serves as President and remains very involved with the bidding and management of various construction projects. MBM was named after three of the owners children at the time the company was founded. For the first time ever, all three are working at MBM. The company name is a reflection of the company’s core values.
