Family Based Mental Health (FBMH) services is for children and adolescents under the age of 21, is a team delivered, intensive, family focused, mental health service rendered in the home and community. FBMH is designed to integrate mental health treatment, family support services, and case management services, so that families may continue to care for their children and adolescents with serious mental illness or emotional disturbances at home. FBMH is intended to reduce the need for psychiatric hospitalizations and out-of-home placements by providing services that enable families to maintain their role as the primary caregiver for their children and adolescents.
